CARE GUIDE

Safety

Always check your products for wear and tear before use. Do not use any product that is visibly damaged, such as cuts, chew marks, rust, etc. We offer lifetime repairs and will replace any product that is defective or damaged upon receipt.

Consumer voluntarily assumes all such risks associated with the purchase and use of the product, including but not limited to personal injury or property damage. Sierra Canine Supply shall not be held responsible for any injuries resulting from the improper use of its products.

Hardware

Depending on availability, we primarily use solid brass, zinc alloy, iron, and stainless steel hardware that are extremely resistant to corrosion. However, our solid brass products will tarnish and develop a patina over time, and non-marine grade hardware may rust if exposed to saltwater for extended periods. To keep your hardware looking like new, we recommend drying your product after it has been used in wet conditions. Do not clean with a wire brush or tools that may remove the coating. Additionally, never use paper towels, paper-based wipes, cellulose, or plastic sponges.

Nickel Plated Brass: Avoid using cleaning solutions that contain acids such as muriatic acid. This solution will eat through the nickel plating and eventually corrode the underlying brass material.

Power Coat Finishes: Our powder-coated stainless steel should require very little maintenance. Gently clean with water and mild liquid soap. Do not use harsh chemicals, solvents, steel wool, or Scotch-Brite pads. Use a microfiber cloth or a soft, non-abrasive bristle brush to loosen stubborn dirt. Dry thoroughly with a microfiber drying towel to prevent water spots.

Powder Coat Disclaimer: Dogs are tough on gear, and none of our products are damage-proof. Over time, wind, water, and friction can cause the powder coating to begin chipping away and reveal the underlying metal.

BioThane® Precautions

BioThane® Precautions: Contact with topical flea medications, insect repellents, and, rarely, a dog's natural oils, may result in cracking, hardening, staining, or pitting of your BioThane®. Wash your BioThane® product thoroughly with soap and water after exposure to any topical medications, insect repellent, after extended wear, and after exposure to salt water to ensure the longevity of your product.

How to Clean Your BioThane®

Use a soft sponge, wash with warm water and soap or a mild detergent.

Scuff marks on light-colored, unpainted BioThane® can be removed with a Mr. Clean® Magic Eraser. However, it's crucial to scrub gently to avoid damaging the material. Over time, excessive use of Magic Erasers can wear through the exterior coating of the BioThane®, so use with caution.

Paint Splash Care

To ensure the longevity of your paint, avoid rigorous scrubbing with harsh or abrasive cleaning products. Do not use alcohol on the painted portions of your collar. Instead, use a soft cloth or sponge and wash with warm water and a mild soap. Please note that a protective topcoat has been applied, which may flake or peel depending on the environment and usage.

How to Clean Your Bandanas

Hand wash in cold water with a mild detergent. Lay flat to dry.

Although our bandanas can be machine washed on a cold cycle and tumble dried, the friction of doing so may result in pilling.

You can use a pill shaver to evenly shave any unwanted fuzz, lint, or pilling that has formed.
